Supplying VMS with your graphics
If you are providing VMS with finished artwork or graphics please provide original files in the following formats:
Vector Programs
Graphics created in Adobe Illustrator (convert fonts to outlines), CorelDRAW (convert fonts to curves), or Macromedia Freehand (convert fonts to paths) for PC or Macintosh are the preferred file formats.
Raster Programs
Raster images should be RGB color-based TIFF Format. Resolution must be at least 200 ppi at full size. CMYK file for viewing only. The preferred program is Adobe Photoshop. Please include layered file and keep text and logos in a vector format.
Page Layout Programs
Preferred programs include QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign and Pagemaker. When supplying artwork from a page layout program, all links and fonts must be included.
CAD Programs
CAD files are best used for blueprints indicating dimensions only, not artwork. If applicable, save as .DXF. Include all dimensions and locations of cutouts, holes, windows, radius corners and irregular shapes.
Adobe PDF
When creating a PDF file, be sure to embed all fonts. This is not the default option and must be specified.
Other
If you are supplying finished artwork but you don't have one of the above accepted formats, provide the original file format. We support almost all available software. Please convert all fonts to curves/outlines whenever possible. If you are unable to convert fonts to curves - please provide True Type or Type 1 fonts for all artwork submitted.
Guidelines for Color Matching, Borders and Lines
Customer Supplied Color Sample
(Four-color process)
An approved color proof must be provided for us to match the desired results of the client. This proof must be signed, dated, revision noted, and contain the color and the position of all elements. We must also have a color sample consistent with the desired color to be matched. Please advise if there are any PMS match colors. Specific color matches must be listed separately.
Borders
Borders require close registration which increases the time in printing and finishing, and adds to the cost of your finished product. For die cut parts, our minimum border/outline is .0625" (1.60 mm). We recommend a minimum of .125" (3.2mm) because this provides a more visually pleasing border.
Line Sizes
A minimum line width of .008" (0.20 mm) should be used for positive type lines. Use a minimum line width of .010" (0.25 mm) for text and lines reversed out of backgrounds.
Media Sources
We can accept data files supplied via DVD, CD-ROM, FTP sites, Thumb Drives and e-mail.
