Twinsburg, OH – Visual Marking Systems, Inc. is the first company to be granted certification from an American Public Transportation Association (APTA) approved independent testing facility, verifying that all high-performance photoluminescent (HPPL) products manufactured by VMS meet or exceed the new HPPL standards set forth by APTA. To be in compliance with APTA standards, all VMS HPPL products will ship with proof of certification.
APTA has recently revised multiple standards regarding a new definition of high-performance photoluminescent (HPPL) material. The changes to these standards require that all HPPL products now meet a standard luminance of 7.5 milli-candelas per square meter (7.5 mcd/m2) at one foot-candle (1fc). The prior requirement for HPPL products was 7.5 mcd/m2 at 5fc.
Vicki Porter, Vice President of Sales at VMS, played an instrumental role as a member of the Task Force that oversaw the revisions to the APTA standards. “VMS has designed and implemented a cost effective product so our customers can easily comply with APTA’s new HPPL requirement” says Mrs. Porter.
