Our team of experts can help you choose the right materials for your needs.
How can I ensure that the graphics will adhere well to my products and remain durable over time?
At VMS, we have a variety of material adhesives. Talk to your customer relations executive about your product’s lifecycle and environment so they can recommend appropriate adhesives and coatings to ensure the graphics withstand the intended conditions.

Fleet Wraps & Vehicle Graphics
Address your most pressing questions about vehicle wraps and graphics, from design and material choices to installation and maintenance. Learn how you can maximize the benefits of fleet vehicle wraps and graphics for your business.
Pre-Installation
Do I have to wash my vehicle before wrap installation?
Yes. Vehicles must be free of dust, mud, wax, oil, protective-type products, and other agents that may prevent the vinyl from adhering to the vehicle surface during the installation of vehicle wraps and graphics. The vehicle surface temperature must be at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. If the vehicle is not cleaned prior to wrap installation drop-off, a fee may be charged. Please keep in mind, we highly recommend NOT pressure washing the vehicle after installation of the vinyl. Some pressure washers can potentially lift up the vinyl because of improper use of the water pressure. The vehicle wrap is an investment in your marketing and advertising strategy and thus it should be protected.
Can you wrap a vehicle with paint scratches, dents, and rust?
It is not recommended to wrap a vehicle with imperfections. Because of the way the vinyl film is applied, it will contour to the imperfections of the vehicle and will not last as long.
Design and Production
How is a vehicle wrap produced?
Every vehicle wrap we sell is manufactured at VMS in the USA. You can learn about all of our capabilities here.
Will you provide color and art proofs prior to printing?
Yes. We will not print anything until you are completely satisfied with the design and have physically approved the design and color proof. We know color and consistency matter to your brand and will work with you to ensure that your vehicle matches your vision.
Installation
How long does the vehicle graphics process take?
The majority of the time spent is on the development of the vehicle graphics design concept. The length of this depends directly on how much direction and input you provide as well as your response time. However, we can have concepts for you in just a couple of days. After the design approval stage is finalized, we enter production. Production typically takes 7-10 days once art has been approved. We print and allow the ink to cure. We then laminate the printed vinyl, followed by cutting. Then we move to the final stage, installation. This takes between one to three days depending on the size of your graphics project, vehicle type, and, of course, scheduling.
How long does it take to install a vehicle wrap?
VMS recommends a three-day installation period for vehicle wrap and graphics installation. Three days gives adequate time for vehicle preparation, installation, and graphics adhesion.
Where is the vehicle wrap installed?
Depending on where you are located, we have an 8,000-square-foot installation facility where all local vehicle fleet wraps are installed. If you are located outside of the Northeast Ohio region, we have a network of 250 Professional Decal Applicators Alliance (PDAA) certified installers across the country that can take care of installations.
Vehicle Wrap Removal
How do you remove vehicle wraps?
Don’t underestimate the difficulty of removing a wrap from a vehicle. In fact, we do not recommend uninstalling the vehicle wrap yourself, as this could cause damage to the factory paint job. Instead, talk to your vehicle wrap service provider about their removal process. They can assure you that when they remove the wrap, it will not cause damage to your vehicle’s paint as long as the paint is in good condition.
Cost and Lifespan
How much does a vehicle wrap cost?
Vehicle wrap prices vary depending on how much of the vehicle will be wrapped. We can create anything from simple vinyl lettering to a full vehicle wrap. Our team will help design vehicle graphics and wraps to meet any budget.
How long do vehicle wraps last?
According to 3M and Avery Dennison, a wrap can last between seven to ten years on the vehicle depending on the quality of vehicle wrap materials used, the experience of the installer, and if the vehicle is properly prepped prior to installation.
Wide-Format Graphics
Wide-format graphics are a powerful tool for businesses looking to make a bold statement through signage, banners, murals, and more. Whether you’re aiming to enhance your storefront, promote an event, or create eye-catching displays, this list of commonly asked questions will help you navigate the process and achieve stunning results.
What is wide-format printing?
Wide-format printing, also called large-format printing, is the process of printing graphics that are too big to be created using printers available to the average consumer. A generally accepted definition of wide-format printing is that it utilizes a wide-format printing press with a roll of material between 18 and 100 inches. Your average home or office printer has a maximum paper size of 8.5 by 14 inches.
What are some examples of wide-format graphics?
- Vinyl Banners
- Window, Wall & Floor Graphics
- Pole Banners
- Maps and Wayfinding Signage
- Sidewalk Graphics
- Framed Building Signs
- Building & Vehicle Wraps
- Yard Signs
What are the benefits of wide-format printing?
Wide-format printing offers competitive advantages compared to other forms of advertising, including:
- High impact: Wide-format printed graphics capture the attention of your potential audience in a way that is nearly impossible to miss.
- Low cost: Wide-format printing is a smart way to invest your marketing budget. Digital printing is extremely cost-effective, and you can take advantage of large surfaces in your office, manufacturing facility or retail space, such as walls, windows and floors.
- Versatility: From conventional products such as vinyl banners to innovative projects like interior building wraps, there’s a wide-format printing solution that meets your marketing needs without straining your budget.
What is the process for having wide-format graphics printed?
At VMS, our process is simple: Design. Print. Transform.
- Design: A VMS designer will consult with you to learn more about what exactly you’re looking for. We’ll work together with you to create a custom design that establishes your vision and brand and provide you with a quote for a custom solution that works for you.
- Print: Once you decide to move forward, we’ll print your graphics to your exact specifications, checking for quality along the way.
- Transform: Watch as your new high-quality graphics attract the eyes of your customers and transform your business’s visual branding.
How do I choose the right wide-format printed product for my project?
With such a wide array of large-format printing products, you may find it difficult to identify a solution that works for you. That’s understandable but there’s no need to worry — let the experts at VMS guide you through the process. Here’s what you need to consider:
- Outdoors or indoors: First, define whether you intend to place your graphics outdoors or indoors. This choice will have an impact on the materials and design of the final product. For example, a banner designed for outdoor use may need wind slits to avoid flapping, or we may suggest vinyl mesh instead of vinyl.
- Application: This is how the graphics will be used. Consider the stress that everyday use will place on your graphics. An indoor window graphic is usually subject to less stress than a floor graphic placed in an area with heavy foot traffic. If your graphics are intended for heavy use, you may consider adding some type of lamination to extend their useful life.
- Longevity: How long do you expect to keep your graphics? If you only need them for a one-day event, you don’t need to pay for long-lasting durable graphics. But, if you want your graphics to last five years, the materials and adhesives will need to be more robust.
- Environment: Where do you intend to place your graphics? If your printed graphics will be subject to cleaning products, extreme temperatures, or UV light, for example, your products may require a stronger over-laminate than if they are hanging in an office lobby.
Can you help with the installation of my custom graphics?
Our installation specialists are professionally trained in both the installation and removal of wide-format graphics and vehicle wraps. VMS is a Professional Decal Applicators Alliance (PDAA) Master Certified installation company delivering the highest quality assurance our industry has to offer. We have an installation network of more than 250 installers throughout the United States to guarantee consistency in your graphics, no matter your location. We have flexible installation hours to accommodate any schedule!
Is there a minimum temperature to install exterior graphics?
Though materials vary, we recommend a minimum temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit for outdoor vinyl installations.
What type of material is best to cover my windows?
There are many material options for wide-format window graphics and the best coverage for your project probably depends on how much light you want to let through. If you want a clear view of the outside, cut lettering or a window decal may work for you. If you want to see out and not let visitors see inside, perforated window film may be a good fit. If you’re looking for 100% coverage, but still want sunlight to shine in, frost coverage may be the best choice.
